Cute Homemade Valentines Gifts : Sweet Dreams Pillow

Sweet Dreams Pillowcase

Valentine’s Day was coming to a close and I had no idea what to get my boyfriend of 3 years! I thought and thought and thought and finally came up with the simple, most greatest gift! =) All you need is a pillow, pillow case, a computer and printer to work on, a scanned picture, and those kinds of paper that you iron on to fabrics. Well I put our picture in the middle and put I LOVE YOU BABY on the top and bottom...of course you can write what you please.

Cute Homemade Valentines Gifts : Paper Roses

Paper Roses

For our first Valentine's Day together my boyfriend gave me a dozen hand made roses. He traced his hands on red, white, and pink construction paper. Then cut the hands out and wrote "I" on one finger, a shape of a heart (for love) on the next finger, and "U" on the next finger (he put a heart on the thumb and an "!" on the pinky). He then took the hand cut outs and wrapped the base of the hands around clear straws and put them in a clear glass vase. He added clear marbles in the bottom of the vase and sprinkled Valentine’s Day confetti all over them. He bought a small red teddy bear with white hearts on it and wrapped the teddy bear around the vase and attached a huge "Happy Valentine's Day" balloon to the bear’s hand! I was so shocked when he came to my front door with paper flowers! I still have them and have refused to put them away...it's now 3 years later and we are still together!

Cute Homemade Valentines Gifts : Little Packets of Love

Little Packets of Love

I did this for Christmas, but you can really do this anytime, and the good thing about it is that a guy or girl can do it. It’s hard to find sweet things to do for your boyfriend that don't have to do with flowers or teddy bears. I wanted my boyfriend to know I love him, but in a creative way. So, I bought little mini bags of M&M's and on little pieces of paper I typed up reasons why I love him. For example, I love you because... when we kiss there’s still sparks. Then I punched holes in the corner of the papers and I tied one to each M&M bag with a piece of ribbon. To top it all off I put them all in a cute bag and gave it to him for an early Christmas present. He loved it, and it was a nice treat to read a new reason why I loved him with every candy he ate.

Cute Homemade Valentines Gifts : Heart Expressions

Heart Expressions

For one Valentine’s Day, my husband got red, pink & white paper and made 60 hearts. On each heart he wrote a memory that reminded him of me or a "love" coupon for many various things. I could pick one a day. He also put them in a vase with sweet-tart hearts, my favorite candy. It was the sweetest thing ever done for me.

Cute Homemade Valentines Gifts : Crayon Messages

Crayon Messages

I had no idea what to get my boyfriend for Valentine’s Day this year, so after a long while thinking I thought of a cute CHEAP idea. I bought a box of 64 (or other sizes) Crayola Crayons. On each crayon I wrote one reason why I loved him, or a memory of something we loved to do together. On the top of the box I wrote him a personal note saying that I loved him and I hope he enjoyed the present. Well he did, and he said he'd never use the crayons because he didn’t want to ruin them.

Cute Homemade Valentines Gifts : Candle Messages

Candle Messages

I wanted to do something for my boyfriend that would remind him of me. He loves candles and is always burning them. So, I bought one that smells like apple cinnamon without any decals on the outside of it. It was just a red candle in a plain jar. Then, I got some stickers letters. With the stickers I spelled out "Dave and Amanda" and stuck them on the jar. I can't wait to give it to him. When he burns it and looks at it, he will think of us!

Cute Homemade Valentines Gifts : Book of Reasons

I'm really into scrapbooking and wanted to make something crafty for my boyfriend for Valentine's Day. He's always asking me why I would choose him. So, I bought a small 6x6 scrapbook and on the 1st page put "101 Reasons Why." I printed out 101 different reasons why I love him and put them in different colors and fonts. I put 3 or 4 on each page of the scrapbook, along with pictures of us together scattered throughout the book. It takes a lot of time & scrapbooking supplies, but it’s great for him to refer to when he wonders WHY I love him!

Cute Homemade Valentines Gifts : Big Kiss of Love

On Valentine's Day my boyfriend and I decided to make each other gifts instead of buying something. He came up with the best idea! He gave me a huge homemade Hershey's Kiss. He filled a big balloon with scented rose petals and tons of little notes of what he loves about me. This balloon was wrapped up in tin foil like a Hershey's Kiss. When I began to open the Kiss, the balloon popped and there were all of the little notes and rose petals. It was so thoughtful and creative.

Love You Screen Saver

My baby and I attended the same school together. At school I attended my class before his, however on Valentine’s Day I wanted to do something really cute and special for him. I sat in class and tried to think up ideas of what to give my baby, nothing came in mind. While staring at the computer I came up with this really nice idea: on 40 computers in the class I wrote, "Happy valentine’s Day, David. Like a circle that has no ending, that's how long our friendship will be". On the screen saver I wrote, "David, I love you with all my heart." Of course I got permission from my teacher and everyone in class liked my idea. When David came walking in everyone looked normal but when he turned on the computer I heard that he had a huge smile on his face and said, "I'm going to get back at you," and he certainly did. We've been together for four years and married for almost three years.

One Dozen Kisses

My boyfriend and I attend different colleges that are four thousand miles apart from each other, so this year we can't be together for Valentine's Day. But this year I have a few ideas as to how I can still make the day special without spending a lot of money. All of these little things are going in a box that I will send to him. I will first rip up twelve little pieces of rice paper, put on some dark red lipstick, and kiss every piece. I figure, since I can't send him a dozen red roses, I can send him a dozen red kisses. He and I love the song "Funny Valentine," and I love to sing it all the time. But he has never heard me sing at all, so I am going to record myself singing our song and put that in the box. And the final addition to my Valentine's Day box will be a little on the seductive side. I have a black satin thong with crystal strings that I bought months ago at Victoria's Secret. I have not worn it yet, because I am waiting until I see him. So, I am putting that in the box as a kind of "promise" to wear it as soon as we see each other this summer. I'm sure that he'll absolutely love it!

Personalized Newspaper

I just went online and ordered a fake newspaper that I will present to my boyfriend on Valentines Day. The story I selected is about a girl (you can write your own story if you want) who hacked into the traffic advisory signs and posted the message (my name) loves (his name). The article has an actual picture and the advisory board on the picture reads whatever message you want. Because the article comes edged (for authenticity purposes), I will matte and frame it so he could do with it whatever he wants.

Past, Present, Future

My birthday is 3 days after Valentine's Day. One year my fiancĂ© traded working on Valentine's Day to be able to have my birthday off. I was extremely bummed because it was our first Valentine's Day together, but he definitely made it up to me. I got a phone call from his best friend who lived in the same apartment complex. He had asked me to come help him clip his puppy's nails because he was afraid to hurt him. So I walked over there and stayed a while and talked with his best friend. Then he got a phone call and said he had to leave, so he rushed me out. As I got to my apartment and opened the door, rose petals flew everywhere. It was like a movie in slow motion. As I walked into the apartment I noticed rose petals everywhere. They made a trail all the way down the hall and into the bedroom where there was a soft light. As I walked into the bedroom I saw that the whole bed was covered in rose petals and right in the middle was a card and a box. Inside the box was a beautiful necklace with 3 diamonds on it, one for past, present, and future. Inside the card, he had written, “Here is one diamond for every eternity I want to spend with you, past, present, and future. I love you.” No one had ever done something like that for me, and a year later, we are walking down the aisle. He is the greatest love I have ever known!

Romantic Ideas' Combo Package

For Valentine’s this year I went all out for my boyfriend of 6+ years. This last year he's been really great and I decided to show him how much I appreciate all that he's done. So I broke into my arts and crafts goodies and went hog wild. I made him a laminated book entitled "101 Reasons Why I Love You" with a "Dedication Page" and a "The End/Created By" page. I also laminated "Love Coupons" and put them on a ring for a whole bunch of stuff he likes and likes to do that I sometimes don't do enough for him. I also made 2 "Date Boxes": in the "Stay at Home Date Box", I put a table cloth/picnic blanket, tons of candy, a popcorn packet, a new DVD, a laminated card for a recipe for a dinner I'd make him (and told him he also had the option of a stay at home picnic), a "Love Dice Game" (that I also made by painting dice, and laminating a card, one side 1-6 body parts and the other side of the card 1-6 actions and putting it in a cute little heart-covered box). The "Going Out Date Box" was a pretty wooden box into which I put a ton of laminated "Going Out Ideas" which included everything from bowling, going to the movies, skating, to getting treats from different eateries, going to the library etc. I told him that he could combine coupons, but the total cost had to be less that $25. I also went to the dollar store, bought a clock, and printed up a picture of us and decorated the inside with it and stickers. I also bought him a little stuffed tiger that goes "Raar!" Lastly, I wrote him a poem that I laminated as well. He loved it all and could not stop hugging me and smiling, he felt so special that I took the time and effort to put it all together for him. Lucky me I had this site to help give me all these wonderful ideas. My only problem is: how do I top it for his birthday?

Simple Surprises

On our first Valentine's Day, my boyfriend and I were both in college. I was in nursing school, and the fact we live 2 hours from each other didn't help. I wasn't expecting very much, because I knew I wouldn't be able to see him. That day, I had class until about 6:30 p.m., and I spent the whole day wondering if anything would happen. After talking to my best friend about it, I told her all I wanted was just to be able to see him. She told me she had emailed him, and he told her he had a surprise for me, but he wasn't going to be able to come see me because he had basketball practice (he coached for a high school team). I was so sad by that, but accepted thefact that I would have to wait to see him. When I got to class, I wanted to skip out early, but my friends insisted that there was going to be a delivery and that I stay or I would miss it. Of course I stayed. However, by the time class was over, there was nothing. They told me I had to wait or I'd really miss it. Well, we waited for about forty-five minutes and I was getting anxious. All of the sudden, a car pulled into the parking lot and I realized it was him. I was completely speechless! I ran over to him, nearly floating. That was the greatest Valentine's Day thus far, just because I got to see him, and I had no clue!

Special "Love Quiz"

This is for serious geeks only: I signed up for a GeoCities account with a non-obvious name and made up a "How romantic are you?" quiz for my husband. It had forms and radio buttons, same as any other quiz, but they didn't actually do anything. Instead of an actual button to submit data, I put a cute graphic on the bottom and wrote, "Click the Cupid to see your score!" Clicking the Cupid took him to a page that said, "Your test results indicate that you're the perfect one for me! Happy Valentine's Day!" If you do this, just remember to keep your questions and answers really generic. If you make an inside joke, you'll ruin the surprise!

The Little Red Mailbox

For Valentine's Day, I decided surprise my sweetie with two weeks of tiny little gifts--nothing too extravagant, but definitely heartfelt. I went to a craft store and bought a little red mailbox, a few little treats from stores, a brown box, and a blank index cards. Each day, I would put something different into the mailbox. The first day started with an introduction from the LRM (little red mailbox) Postmaster about the rules of the box (Such as, "no mail unless the flag is up). For the next few days, I put in various treats like handmade cards made out of index cards, small packages, and even ads and junk mail for laughs! And like real mail -- no mail delivery on Sundays. You can make the box as personal as you want. Here are a few examples of what I made: homemade card, letters with poems, small stuffed doggie, etc… Be creative and have fun with this one :)

The Best Surprise

I know the idea of baking cookies is fairly common, but mine has a little twist to it. Last Valentine's Day, I baked heart shaped sugar cookies and decorated them with red, pink and white frosting, and wrote LOVE and XOXO on some of them. I put them in a heart shaped basket and wrapped red cellophane paper around the basket. Now here comes the twist. My boyfriend and I were in a long distance relationship at the time, but his parents live near me. Whenever my boyfriend was coming to town I would go over to his parents' house and then go to the airport with his dad to pick him up. That weekend, I told him that I wouldn't be able to make it to his house that night, but that I would see him the next day. I went to his house (his parents were in on this) and stayed there while his dad went to the airport so that he would believe that he really wouldn't get to see me that night. Then when I saw them pull up to the driveway, I ran to my boyfriend's room and sat on his bed with the basket of cookies and a card in front of me. When he went to put his bags in his room, he was so shocked to see me there! It was the best surprise I've ever come up with!

The Perfect Valentine Gift

For our first Valentine's Day together, my boyfriend totally blew me away. He bought a heart-shaped box from a craft store, as well as heart stickers and other heart shaped things. He painted the bottom half of the heart box RED, and the lid PINK. He glued all those heart shaped things to the outside of the box. He got some red material with white hearts all over it, and lined the inside of the box with it. On the top part of the lid, he painted in RED, the words "Look inside for the most perfect Valentine ever." I had no idea what to expect when I took that lid off. I opened the lid, and saw my reflection in a small mirror that he had glued to the inside. It was one of the sweetest things he has ever done. We are still together now, and his sweet ways are still going strong. We're on the verge of getting engaged, and I can't even imagine how he'll do that.

The Notebook Love Letters

Last year, as part of the Valentine's Day experience, I purchased "The Notebook" movie (from Nicholas Spark's book). In it Noah writes to Allie everyday for a year. Of course, if you've seen the movie you know that Allie's mom hides the letters from her. Well, on February 15th, 2005 I started writing a love letter per day to my wife. I am planning to watch The Notebook again with her this Valentine’s Day - giving her the phony excuse of starting a new tradition or whatever - and when Allie's mom gives her the stack of letters in the movie, I will give my wife the boxes of letters - 365 one from everyday of the year. It's going to be great. She has no idea this is happening. One word of caution - this is a massive project - only the dedicated should begin it...but it is so worth it now being only a few days away from Valentine's Day.

Valentine Proposal

On Valentine's Day 2004, my boyfriend and I had a low key dinner and watched a movie together. We'd been together for 5 years and were completely broke, so we didn't have any big plans for Valentine's Day. I gave him his gift and he handed me a little stuffed lion (I love lions) and I thought we were done. At about 11:00pm he asked me if I wanted the rest of my gift. I was a little confused, especially when he said, "It was too big to fit in the house so you have to go into the backyard." I started walking out through our pitch black kitchen and was peeking through the window over our kitchen sink only to see "Will You Marry Me?" lit up in red and white Christmas lights on our back fence. I stopped dead in my tracked and when I turned around, Chris was on one knee and was holding up my dream engagement ring. I was speechless as he made a little speech and slipped the ring on my finger. I was shaking and crying when I finally realized what had happened...I said yes of course!!

Valentine Package

I will never my first Valentine's Day with my boyfriend. It was so cold outside that there was frost on the windows. I had woken up early to bake some muffins for his Valentine's Day gift. As I walked outside at 7:00 am, to go to school, there was a surprise waiting for me on my car. The first thing I saw was this stuffed puppy that said "I Wuff You." As if that wasn't enough of a surprise I also found a heart shaped box full of Hershey Kisses and a dozen red roses with one white rose in the center. He had also written I love you on my car and put heart stickers on the window. And as if that still wasn't enough, a large heart shaped balloon that played the song "You're the One That I Want" from Grease. Attached to my balloon was a heart felt card written by him. It explained the purpose of all my gifts. The puppy was for my love of dogs, the Hershey kisses were because my lips are so sweet, the balloon because I love the movie Grease and the white rose because I stand out from all other women and a white rose means hope for the future.

Valentine's Day Love Basket

Last year for Valentine's Day, I put together a customized basket for my sweetie. He loves to read, so filled a red leather magazine holder with his favorite snacks, a few magazines, some red plaid pajama pants, Dove chocolates, etc. I took it to his house during my lunch hour and put in on his coffee table so he would see it as soon as he walked in the door. It turns out that his car was rear-ended on his way home. He wasn’t hurt, but he certainly wasn’t in a good mood. His flowers for me were ruined as well. But the moment he walked into his house, his mood changed. He told me that he loved his gift, and the next night he made up for the lost flowers with a romantic dinner and a wonderful night!!

Valentine's Make-up

This year’s Valentine's Day, I had no money and my boyfriend and I had a fight the day before. I just finished school and did not have a job so doing something special for my boyfriend was going to take a lot of thinking. With no money and a lot of time on my hands, I took some construction paper I had and cut out different size hearts. I had red and pink. On some of them, in a nice font, I wrote letters that spelled out our names and "Valentine's 2002". I also made chocolate-coated strawberries with wine inside them. I had two champagne glasses we bought a year before and filled them with Hershey’s kisses. I went to his house, while he was at work, and put the hearts all over the walls in his room. I set up tea-light candles, Hershey’s kisses filled glasses and put in a romantic C.D. I had made for him into the stereo. I put the strawberries and champagne in the fridge. I had also arranged to pick him up after work. On the way home, I had him pull over and told him so that I could use the pay phone. I called his house and asked his brother’s friend, who happen to be there, to light the candles for me as well as set up the strawberries and champagne. When he walked into his room, there was music playing, candlelight, and chocolate-coated strawberries on his bed with little hearts in a shape of a heart and champagne waiting for him. Needless to say, he was stunned. I knew the fight was over and all he could do is hug me and say, “I love you”. I think what mattered the most is how much thought I put into it.

Want A Kiss?

Last Valentine's Day I wanted so badly to be with the one I love just to kiss him. Since it was impossible, I sent him a box. On top it said "Want A" then had a kiss taped below the words. Then when he opened the box it had a piece of paper that said, "Want To Make Out?" Then he lifted the paper and there were the rest of the kisses. He said it made him blush and he loved it!!

Will You Be Mine?

Well a couple years ago I decided to ask my crush if he would be my valentine. So, I bought a plain white t-shirt. On the front in permanent marker I wrote, “Will you be my valentine?” Then I wrote my name in permanent marker. Then I wrote the name of about 9 of our other girl friends names on the shirt in washable marker. I gave the shirt to one of his friends to give to him with a letter that said, “Wash me!” So, after he washed the shirt only my name and the “Be my Valentine?” were left. He loved it and we have been together ever since!

When He Didn't Expect It

For Valentine's Day, I really wanted to do something amazing for my boyfriend. I cut out 100 construction paper hearts, and I wrote I love you in 100 different languages on one side of each and a reason why I love him on the other side. I stringed these around and across his room with fishing wire so that they looked like they were floating. I made a HUGE homemade card out of a poster board that I painted on the outside, and on the inside I wrote him a really long, sweet poem. I hung streamers all over, spread confetti all about, and put balloons all around his room as well. I also got him chocolate lips and a singing gorilla stuffed animal. On his door, I put a decorated sign that said, "How do I love thee? Let me count the ways..." I did this all before he came home from college that night, and it was just a few days after I got out of intensive care, so he wasn't expecting anything at all. The look on his face when he opened the door to his room and read all of the hearts, one by one, was amazing. He seriously couldn't speak for about 5 minutes. It made him feel so wonderful, and he still talks about it months later.

You've Got Mail, Honey

My boyfriend lives in Florida and I in Nigeria, so on Valentine's Day, I created a new e-mail address and used our names for the passwords (mine for his password, his name for my password). I sent sexy shots of me, and one of us together which he had been pleading with me to scan and send since he last saw me. I sent poems and love mails too. I only gave him the mail address but told him to guess the password and when he opened it - after guessing!- he was greeted with, "WELCOME HONEY, YOU HAVE FOUR UNREAD MESSAGES,” which was so grand!

You're Cordially Invited to steal my Heart

I purchased an invitation, rather than the cheesy old card, and wrote inside that she was cordially invited to steal my heart. I also included a CD of which I burned myself to show her that I took the time to make it very personal this year. Might seem cheesy, but its original and BELIEVE ME it works ... !

12 Flower Messages

My boyfriend of a few months wanted to take me out for our first Valentine celebration. He had everything planned for us that night and would not let me in on any of it. When he came to the door he was nicely dressed and walked me to the car and opened the door for me. Once inside the car I received a yellow flower (my favorite color) with a little tag tied on to the rose. He told me that I couldn't ask him any questions and that I had to read every card twice. I opened the first card and I had no idea what it said because it was in a different language. I was confused. So he continued driving and stopping every once and a while to had me another flower with a card on it. He even stopped and handed me a homemade card! It was so cute! Then we went to a fancy restaurant to enjoy a four-course meal with red wine and all. Once we left there a few hours later he was still stopping and handing me flowers. I was a little annoyed and confused because I had no idea what was going on. He told me by the end of the night it would all make sense. So we went back to his place where he had a fire going and hot chocolate waiting for me. We spent some time just the two of us talking and as he was getting ready to take me home he handed me the 12th flower. I opened the tag and it said, "12 ways will never be enough to tell you how much I love you!" I was shocked. He wrote the words I love you in 12 different languages on each different tag!! Now, that’s a night I will never forget!!

10 Reasons Why

For Valentine's Day, I cut out several hearts that led my boyfriend from the front door to the bedroom. He opened the door to a room full of balloons that covered the ground completely, with some balloons overlapping. In the middle of the room, on a chair, there was a stuffed black dog with boxing gloves on that read, "You're a Knock Out," (this was perfect since he loves to box)! There was a poem sitting beside it with candy kisses all around. In the midst of a room full of balloons he had to find the 10 special balloons and pop them to find the hidden message for the 10 Reasons Why I Love You.

Saint Valentines Story

Saint Valentine is said to have lived in Rome during the third century. That was a long time ago. During this time Rome was ruled by an emperor named Claudius. Many people did not like the ruler.

Claudius was having trouble getting men to serve in his army. He felt many men would not volunteer to join because they did not want to leave their wives and families. He thought that if men were not married, they would join the army. So Claudius passed a new law which did not allow any more marriages. Most people thought this law was cruel. Valentine, who was a minister, did not support the new law.

Even after Emperor Claudius passed the law, he kept performing marriage ceremonies secretly. One night he was caught and thrown in jail and told he would be put to death.

Many young people came to visit Valentine. One was the daughter of the prison guard. On the day of his death Valentine wrote a note to the daughter signed "Love from your Valentine". This was on February 14, 269 A. D.

Some say this started the custom of exchanging love messages on Valentine's Day.

Valentine Jokes Part II

Osama’s Valentine

A little boy comes home from first grade and tells his father that he learned about the history of Valentine’s Day. “As Valentine’s Day is for a Christian saint and we’re Jewish,” he asks, “will God get angry at me for giving someone a valentine?”
The father thinks for a moment and then says, “No, I don’t think God would get mad. Who do you want to give a valentine to?”
“Osama Bin Laden,” the boy says.
“Why Osama ,” his father asks in disbelief.
“Well,” David says, “I thought that if a little American Jewish boy could have enough love to give Osama a valentine, he might start to think that maybe we’re not all bad, and maybe start loving people a little bit. And if other kids saw what I did and sent valentines to Osama, he’d jump with joy. And then he’d go all over and tell everyone how much he loved them and how he didn’t hate anyone anymore.”
Father’s heart swells and he looks at his son with newfound pride and joy.
“David, that’s the most wonderful thing I’ve ever heard.”
“I know,” David says, “and once that gets him out in the open, the Marines shoot him.”
