Valentine's Make-up

This year’s Valentine's Day, I had no money and my boyfriend and I had a fight the day before. I just finished school and did not have a job so doing something special for my boyfriend was going to take a lot of thinking. With no money and a lot of time on my hands, I took some construction paper I had and cut out different size hearts. I had red and pink. On some of them, in a nice font, I wrote letters that spelled out our names and "Valentine's 2002". I also made chocolate-coated strawberries with wine inside them. I had two champagne glasses we bought a year before and filled them with Hershey’s kisses. I went to his house, while he was at work, and put the hearts all over the walls in his room. I set up tea-light candles, Hershey’s kisses filled glasses and put in a romantic C.D. I had made for him into the stereo. I put the strawberries and champagne in the fridge. I had also arranged to pick him up after work. On the way home, I had him pull over and told him so that I could use the pay phone. I called his house and asked his brother’s friend, who happen to be there, to light the candles for me as well as set up the strawberries and champagne. When he walked into his room, there was music playing, candlelight, and chocolate-coated strawberries on his bed with little hearts in a shape of a heart and champagne waiting for him. Needless to say, he was stunned. I knew the fight was over and all he could do is hug me and say, “I love you”. I think what mattered the most is how much thought I put into it.
